Field NotesSeven Public Artworks
The Frio Canyon's first public art trail.
TerraTx Art Fest is a three-day celebration of art, culture, and the landscapes that shape the Texas Hill Country. Stretching twenty-two miles from Leakey to Concan, the festival brings together artists and local experts to create permanent public art inspired by the people, places, and traditions of the Frio Canyon. Through murals, music, storytelling, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences, visitors are invited to discover the stories that make this place unlike anywhere else.
The 2026 theme, Legends of the Land, celebrates the people and places that have shaped this region for generations. Before creating their work, each artist spends time with local historians, ranchers, naturalists, musicians, birders, gardeners, and other community members, allowing their stories and knowledge to inspire every mural, mosaic, sculpture, and performance created for TerraTx.
